Dark, Herbal & Oaky

Deep black ruby. Moderate strength aromas of black berries, dark plum, earthy spices & leather. Rich flavors of black cherry, ripe blackberry, cinnamon, leather, tobacco, pine & some smokiness. Both fruity & yet savory. Somewhat muscular tannins with good vibrant acidity & full bodied.

Oak-aging adds smoke, toast & baking spices.

Benefits from both long term bottle aging & decanting.

Pairs great with mushrooms sauces, truffles, wood-roasted chicken, marinated-beef & steak with black truffles.

Comes from...

Tuscany, Umbria, Le Marche e.g. (Offida blend) but best varietal from Montefalco, Umbria, Italy

Look for "Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG" on the label. Not "Rosso di Montefalco", a Sangiovese blend which includes a limited amount of Sagrantino.

Also don't confuse this with another style, off-dry "Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito".
