Super Tuscan red blend wines are from West Central Italy (Tuscany), often similar in style to Bordeaux Blends, but a bit more savory. Most often a blend Sangiovese with non-indigenous grapes e.g. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah. Sangiovese adds acidity and slightly tangy red fruit flavors which make them very food friendly. The term is unregulated and may be a diverse blend of several grapes. Really a geographical marketing term not a standardized wine style.
