Dark & dense ruby red. Aromas of black & red cherry, tomato leaf, star-anise, smoke & dark earth. Lightly rustic & intense flavors of tart red & black cherry, savory dried tomato, black pepper & expresso.
Extended oak aging adds adds smoke, toast & baking spices.
Xinomavro (aka Xynomavro) means "sour black" in Greek.
Full bodied wine with high acid & high tannins, often called the "Barolo of Greece."
Typically not blended. Lighter & less oaked styles are also produced.
