In Bordeaux these wines are categorized into Un-Classified Growths & two major Classified Growths (Cru); Left-Bank Style (aka Medoc Style, Cabernet Sauvignon dominated blends) more tannic & Right-Bank Style (aka St. Emilion Style, Merlot or Cabernet Franc dominated blends) somewhat more herbal.
"Classified" wines, with a specific level "Cru" typically have more aromatic & flavor intensity & complexity.
Graves wines are also Classified.

Bordeaux grape blends labeled "Meritage" (rhymes with “heritage”) are Domestic wines made from the same Bordeaux grapes. To use the term, a winery has to be a member of the Meritage Association, & a wine must have no more than 90 percent of any single grape.
